GoodWe ESA-Athena 0.8 kW/7.68 kWh – Micro Storage Set for Balcony Solar

GoodWe ESA-Athena 0.8 kW/7.68 kWh – Micro Storage Set for Balcony Solar

All-in-one energy storage system with 7.68 kWh total capacity – base unit plus three extension batteries for increased self-consumption on your balcony.

The GoodWe ESA-Athena 7.68 kWh set combines the base unit (EAA0800-03-00P) with three extension batteries (BAG1900-02-00P) to form a micro storage system with 7.68 kWh total capacity – the ideal addition to your plug-in solar device or balcony solar system. Thanks to 4 independent MPP trackers, each PV module is optimised individually, which is especially beneficial under partial shading on balconies. If your energy needs grow further, the system can be expanded with 1 additional module to the maximum configuration of 9.6 kWh.

Features

  • 4 independent MPP trackers: Module-level optimisation, up to 4 PV modules connectable (depending on their output voltage).
  • Plug-and-play installation: Simple, tool-free setup and stacking.
  • 800 W feed-in power: Matches the German balcony solar limit, no extra accessories needed.
  • Increased self-consumption: 7.68 kWh storage capacity for significantly more stored solar power instead of unused grid feed-in.
  • Further expandable: 1 additional extension battery stackable, mixing old and new modules supported.
  • Heating technology: Reliable operation down to -20°C.
  • Backup power & scheduling: Automatic standalone mode, mobile outdoor operation, and TOU scheduling (see below).
  • IP65 protection rating: Weatherproof for outdoor use.
  • SEMS+ App: Remote monitoring via Bluetooth/WiFi.

Backup Power, Standalone Mode & Scheduling

Automatic backup power (Backup port): A dedicated connection (Backup port) supplies selected, important loads independently of the normal grid connection. In the event of a power outage, the unit detects the missing grid voltage at the GRID port and automatically switches from grid-tied mode to standalone mode in under 10 ms, supplying this backup circuit with up to 1.5 kVA. For pure mobile outdoor use – i.e. taking the base unit to a different location, such as camping or the garden – a deliberate, manual reconfiguration is required: the grid, backup and PV cables are disconnected, the series connection to the extension batteries is removed, protective caps are fitted, and the unit is switched to outdoor mode at the press of a button.

The system also supports a TOU mode (Time-of-Use): in the SEMS+ App, time windows can be set in which the battery charges from the grid during low-demand periods and supplies the load from the battery during peak periods – matching known off-peak/peak tariff times. The exact possibilities for connecting to dynamic electricity tariffs should be checked directly with the manufacturer or tariff provider before purchase. Independently of this, a compatible smart meter such as the Shelly Pro 3EM can optionally be added to capture actual household consumption in real time and optimise self-consumption accordingly. A smart meter is not included in the scope of delivery – without one, the system operates with output power designed for 800 W from the factory. The list of supported smart meter models is regularly updated and expanded by the manufacturer, so we recommend checking current compatibility before purchase.

Scope of Delivery

  • GoodWe ESA-Athena base unit (EAA0800-03-00P – inverter incl. first battery module, 1.92 kWh)
  • GoodWe extension battery (BAG1900-02-00P – 1.92 kWh each)
  • 1× AC connection cable (5 m) incl. required mounting material
  • 8× PV extension cables with MC4 connectors (2.9 m each)
  • Optional add-on: Compatible smart meter such as the Shelly Pro 3EM (for self-consumption optimisation, not included)
  • Optionally further expandable: 1 additional GoodWe extension battery BAG1900-02-00P
