The Huawei SmartAssistant SA4H-A02 – formerly known as Huawei EMMA (Energy Management Assistant) – is the intelligent home energy manager in the Huawei FusionSolar ecosystem. This is a rebranding with an unchanged technical basis: the SmartAssistant is fully compatible with existing Huawei FusionSolar installations. It integrates measurement, communication and energy management functions into a compact DIN rail device and manages power generation and consumption across the entire household in real time. The SA4H-A02 enables seamless communication between Huawei SUN2000 inverters, LUNA2000 battery storage systems, Huawei Smart Charger wallboxes, my-PV devices and further third-party components – all centrally controllable via the Huawei FusionSolar App. Compatibilities are subject to change – please verify with the manufacturer.
Intelligent scheduling and PV optimisation
The SmartAssistant forecasts surplus PV power using an AI-based algorithm and uses this data to control the state of charge (SOC) of the battery storage – for maximum self-consumption optimisation and minimum grid costs. According to the manufacturer, the synergy of PV and battery storage increases system yield by an average of 10%. Home appliances can be configured via the FusionSolar App to operate at optimal times in TOU mode (Time-of-Use) or PV preference mode. When sufficient PV power is available, priority can be assigned to consumers such as heat pumps or EV chargers; in the event of overload, the SA4H-A02 automatically switches off lower-priority devices.
Dynamic electricity tariffs
The SA4H-A02 supports automatic connection to dynamic electricity tariffs, enabling peak-valley price arbitrage and zero feed-in during negative electricity prices. Supported electricity exchanges include Nord Pool (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Luxembourg), ESIOS (Spain), TGE (Poland) and EPEX Spot (Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, UK). A compatible dynamic electricity tariff with the user's energy provider is a prerequisite for using the dynamic tariff control function. Please note: the Smart Scheduling function is free of charge for two years from activation – Huawei reserves the right to charge for this service thereafter.
Comprehensive device connectivity
In addition to Huawei SUN2000 inverters and LUNA2000 battery storage systems, the SmartAssistant can also connect one SG-ready heat pump (EEBUS, direct), up to 2 Huawei Smart Charger wallboxes, heating rods (Modbus-TCP), third-party EV chargers (Modbus-TCP), my-PV devices and up to 20 Shelly devices (Shelly Plus Plug S, Shelly Plus 2PM, Shelly Pro 2PM). The power consumption of all connected devices is displayed centrally in the FusionSolar App. For third-party integrations, the SA4H-A02 also supports Modbus-TCP as well as VPP integration for FCR-D frequency modulation.
One-stop management via the FusionSolar App
The FusionSolar App provides a detailed display of all energy flows – from PV generation and battery storage to the consumption of individual devices, and down to module level when power optimisers are used. The operating status of the entire system can be monitored and controlled at any time, from anywhere.
