my-PV AC•THOR – PV Power Manager 3 kW for Hot Water and Heating with Solar Power
Steplessly controlled photovoltaic power manager for hot water, heating and electrical heat sources
The my-PV AC•THOR is a 0–3 kW steplessly controlled photovoltaic power manager for hot water and heating – a compact home technology hub in A5 format. It automatically controls electrical heat sources based on available PV surplus and heat demand, and is suitable for hot water, space heating, underfloor heating, infrared panels and heat pumps. In a residential building built or renovated to current energy standards, the AC•THOR can completely replace conventional hydraulic heating technology – cables instead of pipes, electricity instead of hydraulic systems. According to the manufacturer, up to 85% PV self-consumption is achievable even without battery storage, with cost savings of up to 30% compared to conventional systems.
Applications and operating modes overview
The AC•THOR covers a wide range of applications: photovoltaic hot water preparation, stratified charging of buffer tanks, space heating via electric heating mats or infrared panels, underfloor heating and PV integration of standard heat pumps (PV-ready). Multiple operating modes allow hot water, stratified charging, space heating, heat pumps and combined heating circuits to be realised. A second heating element (max. 3 kW) can be switched via the switching output for temperature backup – enabling a total of up to 6 kW, while the power unit continues to regulate steplessly up to 3 kW. The AC•THOR can also be used as a dump-load controller in off-grid systems. The building mass itself – such as screed floors – can be used as thermal storage.
System integration – battery storage, smart home, inverters and balcony power stations
In combination with the my-PV WiFi Meter, the AC•THOR uses only surplus PV energy for heat generation – including in combination with balcony power stations and micro-installations. Since energy fed into the grid from balcony power stations is not remunerated, the WiFi Meter captures PV surplus in real time and transmits the information to the AC•THOR, which uses the energy steplessly for hot water preparation. According to my-PV, this can reduce grid feed-in from a 2 kWp balcony power station by up to 84% and cover up to 47% of annual hot water demand with solar energy. As a hybrid storage system, the AC•THOR optimally complements battery storage: the battery is charged first, after which the AC•THOR stores remaining surplus in hot water or building mass. Compatible systems include Fronius GEN24, Huawei EMMA, KOSTAL PLENTICORE, SolarEdge as well as Sungrow and Solis. Thanks to its open system design, the AC•THOR also communicates with numerous smart home and energy management systems via Ethernet RJ45 and RS485. As compatibilities are subject to change, we recommend verifying the current list with the manufacturer before purchasing.
Optional functions and cloud features
Any remaining energy shortfall can optionally be drawn from the public grid – making it unnecessary to start a conventional heating system. The AC•THOR supports the my-PV cloud features SPO (Solar Peak Optimizer) and DTO (Dynamic Tariff Optimizer). The SPO responds to negative exchange electricity prices and starts heat generation exactly when no EEG remuneration is paid – ideal for new PV systems in Germany from 2025. The DTO automatically optimises heat generation based on the cheapest exchange electricity prices from 22 European countries – also for periods of low PV yield or at night.

Founded in 2011, the Austrian company my-PV develops innovative and functional solutions for solar-powered building technology. Driven by the deep conviction that everyone has a right to clean energy, the manufacturer demonstrates that ecology, low costs, and resource conservation are not mutually exclusive when it comes to self-consumption. At its headquarters in Neuzeug, the internationally active company built Austria's first solar-electric company building, which combines production, warehousing, R&D, and training areas across approximately 2,600 m². With this focus on expansion and progress, my-PV gets the absolute maximum out of photovoltaic systems – for both people and the environment.
