my-PV WiFi Meter – 3-Phase Measurement Transducer for PV Surplus Control
Precisely measure PV surplus and maximise self-consumption – compatible with all common inverters
The my-PV WiFi Meter is a 3-phase measurement transducer for grid-connected PV systems and the basis for the stepless PV surplus control of all my-PV devices. It analyses the energy flows of the PV system and transmits the surplus information wirelessly via WLAN to compatible my-PV devices such as the AC ELWA 2, the AC•THOR or the AC•THOR 9s. This ensures that only the energy currently available is used for heat generation – with no feed-in to the grid and maximum self-consumption. The my-PV WiFi Meter is suitable for single-family homes as well as commercial applications with large connected loads and multi-unit residential buildings. Thanks to its open system design, it is compatible with PV systems from all major inverter manufacturers including Fronius, GoodWe, KOSTAL, Huawei, SMA, Solis, Sungrow and Solar-Log, as well as numerous smart home and energy management systems – my-PV lists over 80 compatible manufacturers. Alternatively, surplus information can also be received directly from the inverter or energy management system in compatible setups. As compatibilities are subject to change, we recommend verifying the current list with the manufacturer before purchasing.
Installation and function
The my-PV WiFi Meter is mounted directly after the energy supplier's meter in the distribution cabinet on a 35 mm DIN rail, measuring the load flow via three included clip-on current transformers – without cutting the phase conductors. The bidirectional 2-direction measurement captures both feed-in and consumption precisely in real time. Network connectivity is via WLAN; additionally, an Ethernet port (RJ45), RS485 and a pulse output are available for professional installations. Configuration is done via an intuitive web interface. The standard measuring range is 0–75 A; clip-on current transformers up to 600 A are available for larger connected loads.
Use with balcony power stations
The my-PV WiFi Meter is also suitable for use with balcony power stations and micro-installations: since energy fed into the grid from balcony power stations is not remunerated, it pays to use every surplus watt directly on-site. The WiFi Meter captures the PV surplus in real time and transmits the information to an AC•THOR, which uses the energy steplessly for hot water preparation. According to my-PV, this can reduce grid feed-in from a 2 kWp balcony power station by up to 84% and cover up to 47% of annual hot water demand with solar energy.
my-PV SPO and DTO
The my-PV cloud features SPO (Solar Peak Optimizer) and DTO (Dynamic Tariff Optimizer) operate independently of the WiFi Meter and are activated directly in the my-PV Cloud. The SPO responds to negative exchange electricity prices and starts heat generation exactly when no EEG remuneration is paid – ensuring that unremunerated PV power is put to good use rather than fed into the grid. The DTO automatically optimises heat generation based on the cheapest exchange electricity prices from 22 European countries – ideal for periods of low PV yield or at night.

Founded in 2011, the Austrian company my-PV develops innovative and functional solutions for solar-powered building technology. Driven by the deep conviction that everyone has a right to clean energy, the manufacturer demonstrates that ecology, low costs, and resource conservation are not mutually exclusive when it comes to self-consumption. At its headquarters in Neuzeug, the internationally active company built Austria's first solar-electric company building, which combines production, warehousing, R&D, and training areas across approximately 2,600 m². With this focus on expansion and progress, my-PV gets the absolute maximum out of photovoltaic systems – for both people and the environment.
