SMA Backup Box for Sunny Tripower Hybrid X BU-STPH-4P63B
Three-phase emergency and backup power solution for the entire home – fully automatic, reliable and black-start capable.
The SMA Backup Box (BU-STPH-4P63B) is the emergency power solution for the SMA Sunny Tripower Hybrid X and enables fully automatic three-phase emergency power supply for the entire home or small commercial building in the event of a grid failure. With a maximum continuous current of 63 A, the entire home network is protected – without any manual intervention. The Backup Box is installed as a separate wall-mounted unit and automatically takes over the emergency power supply in the event of a grid failure. Thanks to its black-start capability, the system can restart independently even after extended grid outages. In grid-connected mode, the Backup Box consumes virtually no power – in emergency power mode under 4 W. Up to 3 Sunny Tripower Hybrid X inverters can be operated in parallel, making this emergency power solution suitable for larger systems and higher power requirements.
Backup Box vs. Backup Kit – what is the difference?
Both products enable the same function – fully automatic three-phase emergency power supply with the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X. The difference lies in the installation method: the Backup Box is a compact, ready-to-install unit for wall mounting – ideal when no suitable distribution board is available or the emergency power component is to be installed separately. The Backup Kit, on the other hand, is designed for DIN rail mounting in an existing distribution board – more space-saving and ideal for installations where everything should be housed in one enclosure. Both variants are functionally identical.
Features
- Fully automatic emergency power supply: Three-phase protection of the entire home network in the event of a grid failure – without manual intervention.
- 63 A continuous current: Sufficient for the entire home or small commercial building – all consumers remain available in emergency power mode.
