Solar Panels for Photovoltaic Systems

High-quality and high-performance glass-foil and glass-glass solar panels for private and commercial roof systems

Solar panels are the heart of a solar installation. They vary in rated power, efficiency, size and technology. These differences affect the suitability for different applications and environments, as well as the long-term performance and durability of the modules. Important factors are, for example, the rated power (Watt peak, Wp), the efficiency and the cell technology. When selecting solar panels, it is crucial to consider the specific requirements of your project in order to achieve optimal results. We focus on monocrystalline solar modules in our range. These achieve significantly higher efficiency under direct sunlight solar modules with an efficiency of up to 22% compared to polycrystalline modules, which on average only have an efficiency of 15-20%.

Solar Panels – what to consider?

When selecting solar modules for a solar installation, several factors should be considered. In addition to the available installation space, i.e. the space available on the roof or the property, one's own power requirements should also be determined. It is important to determine how high the energy demand of the household or business is and what portion of it should be covered by the PV system. Due to the high competition on the solar market, solar panels are becoming more and more affordable. In our assortment we have well-known European solar panel manufacturers such as LUXOR Solar, REC Solar or FuturaSun, but also the chinese manufacturers Trina Solar and Jinko Solar.

Solar panel types:

1. Monocrystalline solar panels:
Monocrystalline solar panels consist of a single crystal structure, which gives them their name. Monocrystalline panels are often recognizable by their black appearance and usually offer the highest efficiency (around 20%) among the different solar panel types. As a result, they can generate more energy from the same area of space, which is especially advantageous when space is limited. In addition, monocrystalline modules are characterized by their long lifetime and low power loss over time.

2. Polycrystalline solar panels:
Polycrystalline solar panels are generally the lower cost alternative to monocrystalline panels. They consist of multiple crystal structures, which gives them their characteristic bluish-shimmering appearance. Despite being less efficient than monocrystalline panels, they are still efficient and provide a good energy yield.

3. Panels with N-type solar cells:
N-type solar cells are photovoltaic cells produced by negative doping of silicon. They feature high electron conductivity, offer high efficiency, and are used in solar modules to convert sunlight into electrical energy. These cells are particularly effective in high power applications and are characterized by low power degradation.

4. Panels with TOPCon technology:
TOPCon is a special technology. are advanced solar cells with high efficiency. They use tunnel contacts and high-quality surface passivation to minimize electron losses, achieving high efficiencies. These cells are ideal for high power applications and help increase the overall efficiency of solar systems.

5. Glass-glass panels:
The name already suggests: Glass-glass panels differ from glass-foil panels in the material used. Glass offers the best protection for solar cells and ensures that the modules are still particularly efficient even after decades. In addition to better fire protection than foil, glass-glass panels also offer better protection against moisture, ammonia or salt spray and are also more robust against mechanical loads (tensile and / or compressive loads). Due to higher durability of the panels, the use of glass-glass solar panels also results in a higher total yield over the operating life.

Optics of solar plants

It is not uncommon for the optical component to play a role in the planning of a PV project. This is also increasingly being taken into account by solar module manufacturers worldwide. For example, in addition to the common silver or white frames of their solar modules, some manufacturers also offer "full black" modules with black frames and a black back to provide an all-black look. In addition, there are also, for example, red, orange or silver solar modules from the manufacturer FuturaSun, which are designed to blend in even better with the overall appearance of the roof or wall surface.

What are the options for shading?

Shading occurs when parts or all of a solar panel are covered by shadows created by, trees, buildings, structures or other obstructions. This causes the sunlight received by the shaded portions of the module to be blocked or reduced. As a result, shading can affect the performance of a solar module or an entire PV system, sometimes significantly.

When shading occurs, the use of solar module power optimizers can help. These minimize the effects of shading so that performance is not affected (yield optimization), even if part of a panel is shaded. In addition, power optimizers offer other benefits, such as MPP tracking and module-level diagnostics and monitoring. We offer power optimizers by SolarEdge, Tigo and Huawei
